Lemay Lake

We live right on Lemay Lake, so it's fun to cool off on a warm day. Dexter and Colin thought they would go for a dip this afternoon, so we went down to play in the water. It took Dexter a few minutes to get used to swimming again (he hadn't been in a lake since last summer), but once he got in - he didn't want to stop swimming and chasing his toys!

Pocket Door....No more!

I can't stop laughing as I write this post because of the events of last night. We have a pocket door that opens into our master bathroom. It is finicky and lately seems to be falling off the track alot and not wanting to open and close smoothly. Last night, after a long day of garage cleaning and yard work, Colin went to take a shower and got STUCK in the bathroom. He closed the pocket door and it would not budge one bit to let him out. I heard him calling my name while I was making dinner, and I could not stop laughing. Of course, I had to get my camera to document the event. After about 15 minutes of us both ripping on the door, it was decided the only way out was to take down the pocket door. Colin said, "Katherine, go get my safety glasses and the sledgehammer". We may have used some excessive force, but it got the job done. Lets just say we spent most of the night cleaning up the floor of wood splinters, and didn't eat until around 11PM.

Peonies, Sunflowers, Hibiscus and more....

We've been working really hard this year on our gardens, so I thought I would update some pictures of our current blooms.....

Apple Tree

Colin really wanted an apple tree, so we planted one in the backyard this weekend. It is a golden crisp tree and we should have little apples this fall! It took us awhile to get the stakes in and make it just right, but we finally have it looking good. It will need stakes for the next two years at least. We had a big storm last night and it seemed to survive okay with the high winds!

The Garage Cleanout

My brother Alex and my dad came over yesterday morning to help us take some junk in our garage to the dump. We had a dryer, water heater, carpet, microwave and some other miscellaneous things that were taking up a lot of space in our garage and preventing us from getting organized. Once they helped get the junk out with Alex's truck, we were able to get cleaning! I wish I had taken some before pictures, but it wasn't pretty. Our garage is now very clean and organized - I hope we can keep it that way!
